Racine & Me: Kitten Fostering 101

Racine & Me: Kitten Fostering 101

RACINE, WI (CBS 58) -- Kitten season is upon us. If you've ever wondered what it would be like to foster kittens, or maybe you're just interested in learning more, WHS is offering a free session on Kitten Fostering 101.

The virtual workshop is Monday, May 12th from 5:30-6:30pm on Teams. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn the ins and outs of kitten foster care with no obligation to sign up. We'll be focusing on neonatal kittens which are under 4 weeks old, since they require the most specialized care, but we’ll discuss caring for older kittens, as well. Staff will be available to answer all your questions.

There is no cost for this session, but we do appreciate RSVP. You can do that on our website, wihumane.org. There’s a link right there on the home page. The Wisconsin Humane Society relies on volunteers willing to care for neonatal kittens since they can’t survive in shelter without a mom. Their care includes feeding every 2 to 3 hours and even help using the bathroom.

We provide everything you need to care for your kitten fosters and the best bonus is that foster parents get first dibs on adoption if they end up falling in love! If you’ve ever considered fostering an animal, there is no better time than now to jump into this lifesaving volunteer opportunity. You can get started on our website by watching a short orientation video and attending the Kitten Fostering 101 virtual session on May 12th. If you’re unable to foster but still want to help, please check out the Amazon wish list in the Donation section at wihumane.org.
