Jacob Kittilstad learned more about the 15th Annual Crystal Ball happening soon at Veterans Terrace at Echo Park. The event is hosted by the Aurora Health Care Foundation and this year it is raising money for two hyperbaric chambers to be installed at Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington. The chambers are especially useful for people who need help healing chronic wounds. Click here for more information

On Super Bowl Sunday Milaeger’s Great Lakes Famers Market will attempt to reclaim their world record for “largest Bloody Mary toast”.  They got the record last year – but it was stolen away by a city in Florida. Now the number to beat is 2,457. Also, those Bloody Marys are free. Click here for more information

The Racine Zoo is already getting into the mood for Valentine’s Day. In honor of their upcoming Animals Amore event they brought along a prolific male Marine Toad (named Kermit) capable of having around 30,000 offspring a year. People who attend the zoo’s upcoming event can learn more about the odd mating habits of animals from around the world. Click here for more information


And the basketball court at Burlington High School has been named for a long-time program volunteer. Ron Kahl has helped during games in one-way-or-another for the past half century. He says he had a list of reasons why he shouldn’t be recognized…but the athletic department disagreed.
