MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A local group leading the effort to bring Afghan refugees to southeast Wisconsin held their second strategy meeting Tuesday, Nov. 9.
The Racine Interfaith Coalition is still in the beginning stages of helping refugees relocate from Fort McCoy to Racine.
But they're making progress in raising money, finding housing and getting sponsors.
A staff member from Holy Communion Lutheran Church says a lot of their parishioners are excited to help.
"We don't have much preparation for a family arriving tomorrow or anything, but we have a lot of groundwork and commitment and a lot of good people who have said yes, I want to help, let me know how I can help."
They're hoping Afghan refugees can start arriving by early winter.
