Racine County Sheriff's deputies arrest 6 impaired drivers in 5-hour period

RACINE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Racine County deputies say they made six impaired driving arrests within a five-hour span on Friday, Dec. 20.

Of the six people taken into custody between the hours of 3:45 - 8:45 p.m., five have prior OWI records. 

Racine County Sheriff's deputies made the following arrests:

A 56-year-old Twin Lakes resident was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated 2nd Offense following a traffic stop which occurred in the Village of Mount Pleasant. A concerned citizen reported a vehicle driving recklessly. The driver admitted to deputies that she consumed two beers approximately two hours prior to the incident, as well as some prescription drugs.

A 52-year-old Burlington resident was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated 3rd Offense following a traffic stop which occurred in the Town of Burlington after a concerned citizen reported a vehicle driving recklessly. The driver provided a preliminary breath test (PBT) sample on scene with a reading of 0.233, more than two and a half times the legal limit.

A 42-year-old Racine resident was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated 5th Offense following a traffic stop which occurred in the Village of Mount Pleasant. The driver was reported to have fled the scene of an accident he caused in Milwaukee County. Deputies located him as he exited the interstate at HWY 20. The driver provided a PBT sample on scene with a reading of 0.108. At the time of the incident, he had a valid driver’s license with a 0.02 BAC restriction.

A 65-year-old Kenosha resident was arrested for OWI 1st Offense Causing Injury following a motor vehicle accident which occurred in the Village of Elmwood Park. The investigation revealed the driver failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Taylor Avenue and Lathrop Avenue, which caused a three-vehicle accident that injured one person. The driver provided a PBT sample with a reading of 0.192,  approximately two and half times the legal limit.

A 23-year-old Mount Pleasant resident was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated 2nd Offense, Disorderly Conduct and Hit and Run Accident following a motor vehicle accident in the Village of Yorkville. The investigation revealed that the driver was driving recklessly, nearly striking another motorist before leaving the roadway and striking a traffic sign. The driver then left the scene, where he was located by deputies. He provided a PBT sample on scene with a reading of 0.157.

A 42-year-old Paddock Lake resident was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated 3rd Offense following a traffic stop which occurred on the interstate. A concerned citizen reported a vehicle driving recklessly on the interstate after it nearly struck other motorists and the median wall. The driver refused to provide a PBT sample.
