RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Racine is struggling with its own violence outbreak. Six people killed this year, which is double the number of homicides at this point last year.
The Racine Interfaith Coalition (RIC) hosted a prayer vigil in response to the recent violence.
RIC normally hosts smaller prayer vigils, but they said it was important to get local officials, religious leaders and community members all together.
"We felt it was really time to bring the entire community together at once and pray," said Linda Boyle, co-president of RIC. "To pray for our city and our community."
Racine police are encouraging everyone to call if they hear gunshots or if they notice any situations escalating.
