RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The completion of two new affordable houses is being celebrated in Racine. City and state leaders held a ribbon-cutting for the new homes Tuesday, Aug. 6.
The homes have three bedrooms and are only being sold to first-time, low-income households.
Racine Revitalization Partnership worked with the city to build them.
State Representative Greta Neubauer says this program is important to families in Racine.
"Racine, like many cities in Wisconsin, has aging infrastructure, including our homes," said state Rep. Neubauer (D-Racine). "It's so important that families in this community have safe, affordable places to live, and this program - led by the city, of course - has been a huge part in making sure that people in this community have a great place to raise their kids."
Young people also worked on the homes as part of Racine County's Summer Employment Program.
