It's the kind of cancer that in 50% of cases can be resistant to medical treatment.
Local organizers are undaunted and hope to raise $80,000 this weekend with the 5K Race to Cure Sarcoma.
20% of children with cancer have sarcoma. 1% of adults.
The money raised will go to the Sarcoma Foundation of America which puts a focus on research.
The 5K Walk/Run/Roll is a family friendly event according to organizers Brendan and Melissa Locke who is also a sarcoma patient.
Participants will start and finish inside Fowler Lake Park and have the pleasure of running a flat course on smooth roads through downtown and nearby neighborhoods.

These tumors are most common in the bones, muscles, tendons, cartilage, nerves, fat, and blood vessels of your arms and legs, but they can happen anywhere.
