Public Safety Officer in Kenosha County Dies after Crash

On Friday, July 8 at 6:00 PM an on duty Public Safety Officer with the Town of Salem Public Safety Department, was driving west on State Highway 50 with his department squad car emergency lights activated in Salem.

The squad car left the roadway, traveling into the north ditch area of State Highway 50. The 33-year-old Officer was ejected from the vehicle. Deputies from
the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office were first on scene. Flight for Life was called at the request of the on scene emergency responders and transported the officer to Froedtert Hospital.

The officer, identified as Michael Josua Venture, later died.

Wisconsin State Patrol is handling the initial crash investigation. Investigation is ongoing as to the cause of the single vehicle crash.
