Protestors block traffic during Wednesday evening rush

MILWAUKEE-Protestors blocked traffic as part of a demonstration in support of Dontre Hamilton who was shot dead by a police officer in Red Arrow Park last April.

They are demanding charges be brought against the officer who claims he fired upon Hamilton during a struggle with his baton.

The family says the 14 to 15 shots was overkill.

The Milwaukee County D.A. is seeking yet another outside agency to look into the case so everyone involved will have to wait for resolution.

The Milwaukee Police Dept. issued the following statement about the protest Wednesday night:

\"At about 5 p.m., a group of approximately 20 people made their way through the downtown area, occasionally attempting to block traffic at intersections. When the group was asked by MPD members to move along, they initially complied but continued their intermittent efforts to block traffic. At about 7 p.m., the group gathered in a county park. Milwaukee Police officers and Milwaukee County Sheriff deputies monitored the group for the duration of their walk. No arrests were made.\"
