Prosecutors Will Recommend 10 Years for Wisconsin Man Found Guilty of a 3-Year-Old's Death

WAUPACA, Wis. (AP) — A man caring for a 3-year-old boy who died from blunt force trauma has been convicted in the child's death in Waupaca County.

Thirty-five-year-old John Brush of New London pleaded no contest to first-degree recklessly endangering safety. Seven other charges were dismissed Tuesday.

The toddler's mother left the child with Brush, her boyfriend, last June. Brush told her the boy fell down some stairs. WLUK-TV reports an autopsy shows the child's fatal injuries were not consistent with a fall.

Prosecutors will recommend 10 years in prison when Brush is sentenced July 20.
