Price of gas averaging $2.77 in Milwaukee area, up 6.6 cents from a week ago

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Gas prices are on the rise in the Milwaukee area.

According to GasBuddy.com, the average price for a gallon of gas has jumped up 6.6 cents just in the last week to $2.77. The national average is $2.81 which is also an increase.

A year ago, the average price in Milwaukee was $2.32 a gallon and it was $2.21 in 2016.

The head petroleum analyst for Gas Buddy says they're looking for some relief from the rising prices in June, but still expect summer prices to be higher than they've been in recent years.
