MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- An arrest has been made after a man was found dead on the steps of a church Friday.
A prayer service was held outside Redeemer Lutheran Church near 19th and Wisconsin on Sunday.
Members gathered to remember the homeless man found beaten to death on the church's front steps. The pastor described her feelings when she first heard about what happened.
"I was heartsick to see the police tape everywhere, to see blood on the steps, frankly and to know that this church, where we work so hard to have overflow with love and peace and really be a place where peace is our strongest statement, that for a moment there was a rupture in that," said Pastor Lisa Bates-Froiland.
Milwaukee Police say charges will be referred to the District Attorney's Office in the coming days.
