Port Washington Student Arrested for Possession of a Firearm

Sunday night the Port Washington Police Department received a 411Tip. The tipster provided information that a student from Port Washington High School had a stolen handgun underneath the spare tire of his vehicle and this handgun is now missing.

Early Monday morning a 17-year-old Port Washington High School student was taken into custody during a traffic stop on the city's west side. The suspect is currently incarcerated at the Ozaukee County Jail.

Charges will be requested for theft of a firearm and possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18 years of age.

Police believe the weapon was stolen in July and at no time was the weapon in the Port Washington High School or on school grounds.

No statement or threats were made against students, staff or the high school. Police continue to investigate.
