DELAFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A high school game coined "Senior Assassin" has once again taken a turn for the worse, as a new warning has been issued for those participating.

It comes after police responded to a report of an attempted burglary at a home in Delafield Wednesday.

What was thought at the time to be an emergency situation turned out to be a teenager holding a squirt gun.

"We are the first to support kids being kids and having fun in their youth," City of Delafield police said in a statement. "We even support a good prank. We do not support this. Nerf Wars, Senior Assassin and other similar games can be done safely and responsibly."

The game involves high school seniors forming groups and ambushing each other with water guns.

We spoke with the city's police commissioner, who has some tips on how to play the game respectfully, while still having senior fun.

"We understand these kids are going to go participate in these traditions," Chief Landon Nyren said. "We want them to do it safely and we want them to respect the neighborhoods while they are doing it."

In a statement, the police department suggested players should not attempt to enter any property without permission, notify everyone in your home if you plan on playing in the event and whether you have allowed others to come into your home, and if you see police, don't hide or run away. Instead, drop all items you're carrying and explain the situation.
