Police Searching for Man Believed to have Taken 8-Year-Old after Shooting Girlfriend
CHICAGO (CBS) — Police in south suburban Country Club Hills were searching for a man wanted for shooting his girlfriend, and possibly taking a child.
The man, believed to be in his early 30s, shot his girlfriend multiple times around 4 a.m. in the 1100 block of Williamsburg Road, police said.
Witnesses said she was lying bleeding on the lawn outside her home before she was taken away in an ambulance.
She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Her condition was not available Thursday morning.
Investigators have identified the suspect, and were conducting an active search. Police also were trying to see if they can issue an AMBER Alert in the case, because the suspect’s 8-year-old son might be with his dad as he’s on the run.
Around 6:30 a.m., Illinois State Police said they were searching for an armed offender believed to be driving a red 2011 Ford Taurus, with Illinois License plate Z558610.
