Police: Man overdoses, crashes car with 8-year-old in back seat in Racine County
RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 45-year-old man was arrested after allegedly overdosing on drugs and crashing a car with an 8-year-old in the back seat on Friday, March 19.
Racine County Sheriff's Office says they responded to an accident on I-94 near County Highway K around 4 p.m.
Deputies responded to a scene where they found a 45-year-old man allegedly unresponsive in the driver seat an 8-year-old child in the back seat, according to officials. The driver was allegedly pulseless and not breathing.
According to the Racine County Sheriff's Office, deputies quickly realized signs of a possible drug overdose and that the 45-year-old was the driver of the crashed car.
Deputies administered CPR and Narcan to the driver and he began breathing again, officials say.
Officials say the driver was treated at a local hospital and was arrested on the following charges: possession of heroin, felony OWI third with a child under the age of 16, and recklessly endangering safety.
