Police: Man hits tree, dies in two-vehicle crash in Manitowoc County

CENTERVILLE, Wis. (CBS 58) --- A man is dead after crashing into another vehicle and striking a tree in Manitowoc County on Tuesday, June 8.

According to The Wisconsin Department of Transportation, a 24-year-old Stevens Point man was speeding near Centerville on northbound Interstate 43 when the driver collided into another vehicle, driven by a 65-year-old Fond du Lac man, at 9:45 a.m. 

The crash caused both drivers to loose control of their vehicles. Officials say both cars traveled through the median and across the southbound lanes of Interstate 43. The 65-year-old came to rest on the southbound shoulder. The 24-year-old struck a tree in the southbound ditch.

The 24-year-old was transferred to Green Bay for his injuries and later died, officials say. 

The 65-year-old was treated and released at the scene.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the crash.
