Car crashes into West Allis Starbucks, couple survives 3 days before their wedding
WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A couple survived a close call just three days before their wedding on Wednesday, Sept. 20.
The couple was injured after a car crashed into a local Starbucks, they were waiting inside.
The accident happened just before 11 a.m., at the Starbucks located at 108th and Greenfield in West Allis.
Police said a 65-year-old man accidentally pressed his gas pedal running his car into the building.
The man crashed through the store windows, sending people inside the café running for shelter.
Now, the couple who was injured said they're counting their blessings.
"I kind of blanked, everything just happened, just move out of the way and be over here," said Raven Thompson.
Thompson was taken to a nearby hospital where she was treated for injuries to her foot. She required stitches and was released from the hospital a few hours later.
Thompson's soon-to-be husband was with her in the café with her, he said the accident was a close call.
"It could have been way worse than it was, not only for my fiancé but for the guy who got thrown across the store, said Noah Kastner.
Police said there is no indication the man driving the car was impaired when the crash happened, and he is cooperating with the police.
The couple said they were taking a trip down memory lane before their wedding. This Starbucks is where they had their first date.
Sources tell CBS 58 that the Starbucks drive-through will be opened for service.
