Stella's would be the city's first universally accessible playground.
The idea was inspired by Stella Schneider, a 9-year-old cancer survivor.
During her recovery, she wasn't able to play on the playground with other kids.
Her mom, Rese, immediately decided she could build a playground for kids of all abilities. The plans unveiled Monday are a big step forward.
"It's overwhelming," Rese Schneider said. "This community is really, really special and we've seen people really rally around us when Stella was going through her treatments. We had friends and family supporting us and we had this crazy little idea to build this playground. People stepped up and it's really inspiring to see people come together and support this idea."
The hope is that they can break ground sometime next summer, with the playground to be completed by the end of the year.
