Pilot Lands Plane Short of Runway at Crites Field

WAUKESHA - Deputies responded to Crites Field shortly before 7 p.m. for reports of a plane that slid off the runway.

Upon arrival, deputies observed the small plane with substantial damage on the left side.

The pilot, a 55-year-old woman from Sun Prairie, was able to walk away from the accident with no injuries. She was the sole occupant of the plane.

According to Airport Director Kurt Stanich, the pilot landed over 100 feet short of the runway in the grass. This caused the plane to become damaged and lost control.

The FAA has been notified.

The incident remains under investigation by the FAA and the Waukesha County Sheriff's Office.
