MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 54-year-old woman was killed Monday night, July 27, after being struck by a vehicle near 11th and Mitchell. 

She was identified by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office Tuesday evening as Sherry May Long. 

Police say a driver was heading west on Historic Mitchell Street around 11:35 p.m. Monday when they struck the pedestrian, who was in the street. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say the driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

This article has been updated to reflect the correct age of the pedestrian. Previously, MPD identified the pedestrian as 73 years old.
