Paving project to close parts of North 8th Street this week

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Parts of North 8th Street will be closed this week while the City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works conducts a high impact paving project, the DPW said.

The project will affect North 8th Street from West Atkinson Avenue to West North Avenue beginning Monday, August 5, and continuing until Thursday, August 8. The area will be closed to thru traffic.

Construction crews will remove the existing pavement and resurface the roadways with new asphalt.

The DPW will be conducting the project in several parts over the three scheduled days:

• The area from West Atkinson Avenue to West Concordia Avenue and east-westbound traffic on West Keefe Avenue will be closed on August 5.
• Tuesday, August 6 will see the closure of North 8th Street from West Atkinson Avenue to West Concordia Avenue, and to West North Avenue.
• West Concordia Avenue to West North Avenue will be closed again on Wednesday, August 7.
• The road will also be closed on Thursday, August 8 if there is any remaining work to complete.

All work is weather dependent and subject to change, the DPW said.
