Passerby helps rescue two children that fell into pond in Fond du Lac
FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Two children were safely removed from a pond after they fell through the ice in Fond du Lac Sunday morning. A driver passing through the area is being credited for helping them get out of the cold waters.
Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue received a report of two children in the water in the area of 14th Street and Martin Road shortly before 9:00 a.m. Sunday. When first responders arrived on the scene, the two children were out of the water thanks to a driver who stopped to help them.
The rescuer and the two children were medically evaluated but did not need to be taken to the hospital. All three individuals were given rides to their homes to get into dry clothes.
Authorities say that if the driver would not have stopped to help the two children, the outcome could have been very different.
