MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- 800 Milwaukee families in need are getting meals just in time for the Easter holiday thanks to a group partnership.
Palermo's Pizza with Hunger Task Force is handing out baskets of more than 50 pounds of food to families that need it.
The meals are meant to feed families for a week.
The baskets have everything from fresh ham to fruits, vegetables and pizza. People helping out say it’s all about giving back during the Easter season, ”For us Easter is such an overlooked holidays. Everyone gives away food on Thanksgiving and Christmas, but it’s really important to us as a family, all of our employees that we really give back to the community,” said Palermo’s CCO Laurie Fallucca.
The Easter baskets have been given out every year since 2008 and in that time have given out over 565,000 pounds of food to Milwaukee area families.
