GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Green Bay Packers announced on Thursday, July 24 that they are honoring their past with a new history-inspired uniform called the 1923 Classic.

Not only is the uniform a classic homage, but they are also pairing it with a hand-painted helmet that has the uniquely vintage look of a leather helmet. The uniform includes navy blue jerseys with dark gold numbers and dark gold stripes, tan pants and navy socks, inspired by the uniform worn by the team in 1923, which was the team's first season as a publicly owned corporation.

The 1923 ensemble also marks the first time in NFL history that a hand-painted helmet has been designed to emulate the vintage leather look of the NFL's early helmets.

It is not just about a new aesthetic for fans to enjoy, as the 1923 Classic will be actually utilized in a game during the upcoming season, though that game has yet to be announced.

The collection, including the uniform, helmet, apparel as well as a variety of other gifts featuring the 1923 Classic theme, can be found in the Packers Pro Shop and online.
