Packers ramp up practice outdoors 3 days out from Bears matchup
GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Green Bay Packers ramped up practice outdoors on Wednesday, Jan. 7. They know they have to prepare for what Chicago will bring them on and off the field -- and that includes the elements.
January in Green Bay is usually cold, and they don't call Chicago the "Windy City" for nothing. The forecast for Saturday's Packers-Bears matchup at Soldier Field includes the possibility of rain and snow.
"I mean it can't be any windier than it was last time we were there," Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur said. "I mean the one ball Jordan threw in the end zone went, took a right on him. So it just, it is what it is. And you gotta battle the elements. And we're definitely well versed in dealing with the elements so I don't think it will be an advantage either way."
Matt LaFleur's first game as Packers' head coach was a win in Chicago in September of 2019. But he found out very quickly about the rivalry.
"Probably that first summer when I went down to Lake Geneva and I was like we're in Wisconsin and saw all these Bears fans giving me a hard time. So I also think just when I think back. That was my first game here as a head coach. In 2019 to kick off the season. I just think back to that atmosphere," LaFleur says.
This is the first time a visiting team has played twice in a four-game span at Soldier Field in a single season.
Green and gold fans are now hoping for a different result.
