GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Packers Give Back, a charitable arm of the Green Bay Packers organization, announced it has awarded $125,000 Veterans Impact Grants to Dogs2DogTags and Guitars for Vets, both of which serve Wisconsin veterans, according to a Tuesday, Feb. 24 press release.

Guitars for Vets operates chapters in Milwaukee and Racine and inside the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center. The program provides veterans with free guitar instruction, a new instrument and an accessory kit over a 10-week course as a therapeutic alternative for those dealing with physical injuries, PTSD and emotional distress.

Dogs2DogTags, based in Plymouth, pairs veterans experiencing PTSD and anxiety with trained canine companions at no cost. The organization has paired 38 veterans with dogs since its founding in 2016, including eight service dog teams.

This marks the sixth consecutive year Packers Give Back has awarded the Veterans Impact Grant, according to the organization.
