Overnight accident leaves one dead on the city’s south side, vehicle was stolen

An unidentified man driving a stolen vehicle has died as the result of a single vehicle car crash in Milwaukee early this morning.  The Milwaukee Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash that occurred in the 2300 block of S. 16th Street around 12:45 a.m.   The unknown man was driving a stolen Dodge Intrepid southbound on S. 16th Street at a high rate of speed when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a pole.  The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.  Investigators determined that the car had been stolen earlier in the night from a dealership near S. 16th Street and W. Forest Home Avenue.    The driver was the only occupant in the car.  The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office is attempting to positively identify the driver.
