Meet CBS 58’s Pet of the Week: No Tail
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It's never too early to begin thinking about a career, and local students were certainly living that mantra.
Over 600 students from 23 different high schools attended the MPS Skilled Trades and Technical Career Fair at the Milwaukee Tool building on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
Students had the chance to meet with over 60 different vendors and businesses within fields such as construction and engineering.
"We're teaching them how they can go to school, how they can go into an apprenticeship, how they can get in with a contractor right away, how they can be trained on the job," said MPS Youth Apprenticeship Coordinator Erin Cherney. "So, it's types of fairs like these that we really want to get the word out so students can ask the right questions."
Skilled trade jobs remain in high demand all across the country. MPS hopes that hands on events like this help students learn about any skills and job positions they might want to pursue after graduation.
