Oshkosh police officer shoots man with handgun at Fleet Farm

OSHKOSH, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Oshkosh police say a man is hospitalized following a police-involved shooting at the Fleet Farm along Washburn Street on Sunday, May 10.

Police were called to the scene at around 8 a.m., for reports of a man who had a handgun.

On scene, officials say a uniformed Oshkosh Police Department officer "encountered" the man with the handgun and shot him. 

The victim was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. 

Police say there is no active threat to the community, and no other suspect(s) are believed to be involved. 

The officer involved has been placed on paid administrative leave, per department policy.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the shooting.
