Officials: Kewaskum man facing charges for firing gunshots from apartment balcony

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 34-year-old Kewaskum man was arrested for allegedly firing multiple gunshots from the balcony of an apartment. 

Authorities received multiple 911 calls Tuesday evening, Feb. 22, reporting gunshots in the area of Courtney Lane and Timblin Drive. 

Officers determined the shots originated from a second story apartment on Courtney Lane. A perimeter was established and multiple residents were forced to shelter in place or arrange evacuation while the Washington County SWAT Team responded. 

Prior to the SWAT team's arrival, patrol officers located the suspect and took him into custody without incident around 8:30 p.m. 

Investigators recovered multiple casings near the apartment's balcony and surveillance footage showed the rounds striking the ground near the public sidewalk. 

The 34-year-old Kewaskum man was taken to the Washington County Jail and held on charges of first degree recklessly endangering safety and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
