After two years of postponement from the COVID pandemic, Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers Health Equity Summit returned to Marquette University's campus today.
Officials discussed how environmental health can impact our overall health.
They focused how this could help reduce health inequities in our culturally diverse communities, and the impact of the pandemic.
"Mental health is really impacted by our environment. So the isolation that happened from the pandemic, both from a physical perspective and mental health perspective has a great impact on all of us," said President and CEO of Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers Dr. Julie Schuller.
"To talk about how we bring behavioral health services, mental health services in a cultural competent way are extremely important. making sure that we focus on those in the most vulnerable communities, and we haven't been historically invested in," said Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley.
