MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- As we've reported, city officials say Milwaukee is in the final four to host the 2024 Republican National Convention.
This, along with Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City and Nashville, after missing out on the 2020 Democratic National Convention due to Covid-19.
Visit Milwaukee President and CEO Peggy Williams-Smith and her team are heading back from the RNC winter meeting after bidding Milwaukee to committee members.
They say they've showcased the city's diversity, food culture and corporate and community landscape.
Officials say the economic impact would be huge, drawing 40-50,000 people to the city.
"Two-hundred million dollars in economic impact, it would give us a chance for some recovery that we still haven't seen since the pandemic," said Williams-Smith. "I mean the hospitality, tourism industry was absolutely devastated during the pandemic and this will give us the next two years of people coming in and out of our city getting prepared."
Milwaukee is also being considered for the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
Officials say they're waiting to hear more from them on the possible next steps.
