WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Police say two adults are now dead after a murder-suicide in the 900 block of Lawndale in Waukesha.

The 911 call came in at 1:43 p.m. Police say they found a gun and two adults dead inside when they entered the home. They say the woman in the 911 call was hysterical.

It was just a hysterical person asking for the police,” said Captain Dan Baumann with the Waukesha Police Department.

Neighbors say they knew something serious happened after seeing dozens of squad cars pull up.

“I noticed the first squad pull up, block off the road then reach in his backseat for what I believe was his rifle,” said Jacob Mayer, a neighbor.

Neighbors never heard a gunshot.

“You know we’re at 80-plus degrees outside today and windows are open, people were out and about,  and no one heard anything that was out of the ordinary,” says Capt. Baumann.

Police say children were inside the home at the time of the 911 call, they are now with family.

“Some kids were coming near the ambulance and started crying, and I think they were trying to console them with whatever was going on,” adds Mayer.

Mayer says it’s unusual something like this would happen in his quiet neighborhood. As he watched the scene unfold, he saw a woman crying, so he handed her some tissues.

“I wasn’t trying to pry, just trying to see if everything was okay and she kind of just said that her brother had passed,” said Mayer.

Some neighbors say the people who lived at the home just moved in weeks ago. Police say they’re working to identify the two people inside the home.

“At this time we’re working with some family members that are identifying, they may know the people that may have resided in there,” says Capt. Baumann.

“It’s unfortunate they couldn’t get whatever help they needed, and it transpired to this,” adds Mayer.
