Off-Duty Milwaukee Officer Stops Two Teenagers from Stealing an 83-Year-Old Woman's Car
An off-duty Milwaukee Police Department Captain helped to stop two juveniles who had allegedly attempted to steal a car from an 83-year-old woman.
Officers responded to the 5500 block of W. Capitol Drive around 1:15 p.m. on Saturday for a report of an armed robbery.
The victim, an 83-year-old woman, was in a parking lot when four male suspects approached her, pointed a gun at her, and stole her car keys.
Several citizens chased off the suspects.
An off-duty MPD captain in the neighborhood saw two of the suspects running and found them a short time later at a residence the 4200 block of N. 51st Boulevard.
Those suspects, a 14-year-old Milwaukee male and a 15-year-old Milwaukee male, were taken into custody and officers found a toy gun believed to be used in the crime and the victim’s keys inside the home.
Since 2011, the 14-year-old suspect has been arrested for various crimes including Theft from Person, Burglary, and Arson. At the time of his arrest, he was assigned to a juvenile facility but was released for the weekend on a pass.
Since 2012, the 15-year-old suspect has been arrested for various crimes including Robbery, Burglary, and Possession of Marijuana. At the time of his arrest, he was on probation for strong armed robbery and was assigned to a residential juvenile facility. He also had two active warrants for robbery-related offenses.
