Oconomowoc celebrates 150th birthday on 4th of July weekend πŸŽ‚

OCONOMOCWOC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- In Waukesha County it's an extra special Independence Day celebration in Oconomowoc.

The city is also celebrating its 150th birthday this weekend.

As part of the sesquicentennial events, a time capsule was buried this morning at the ribbon cutting of the new John and Lavinia Rockwell Park on the Isthmus between Lac La Belle and Fowler Lake.Β 

"It's something that's been a five-year journey with so many people involved to make it become a reality," said Oconomowoc Mayor Robert Magnus. "From a development to actually a city park here in city of Oconomowoc, all the people walk around Fowler Lake, all the people that come to visit, the number of fishermen, the kids that fish, it's just become a very, very wonderful park."Β 

Oconomowoc's hometown celebration includes a parade at 5 p.m. this evening, July 4. A car show downtown, a double fireworks show tonight along with kid's activities, a street dance featuring live music tomorrow on Wisconsin Ave. downtown.Β
