November goes into the records snowy but dry with near average temperatures
Welcome to December! November is in the record books! The month, obviously, ended up snowy with the first widespread snowstorm of the season on the last two days of the month. That snow pushed Milwaukee's monthly snow total for November to 9" which is well above average and enough to go down tied for the 12th snowiest December on record.
While November was snowy, it was actually relatively dry. The month saw 1.57" of total precipitation which combines any rain with the liquid equivalent of any snow. That is about 0.75" behind average and goes down as the 52nd driest November on record.
When it came to temperatures, November was nearly exactly average. The average temperature of 40.5 degrees was just a tenth of a degree above average. But it still goes down as the 37th warmest November on record. The warmest high of nearly 70 degrees was right in the middle of the month and fittingly, the coldest temp was on the last day of the month when we dropped into the teens.
Now we look ahead to December which sees the average go from 40 now to near freezing by the end of the month. The average lows go from the upper 20s to the upper teens. December averages 1.88" of total precipitation and over 10" of snow making it the third snowiest month on average.
