North side shooting Saturday, suspect in custody

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A suspect is in custody following a non-fatal shooting on Milwaukee’s north side Saturday night. 

According to Milwaukee Police, a 19-year-old man was shot while in the area of W. Appleton Avenue and W. Melvina Street. The victim told police that he was meeting a friend that he believed was seated in a parked car.

As he approached the car, the person inside the vehicle shot the victim. 

The 19-year-old was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive. While the police have a suspect in custody, they are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
