MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --"Spiders Alive!" at the Milwaukee Public Museum is about to crawl its way out of town. But you still have a limited time to learn more about these eight-legged creatures at the particular exhibition.
Seventeen different species are showcased, and there's a giant "trapped door" spider for kids of all ages to climb all over for pure enjoyment. The curator says contrary to what you might think...arthropods in general are more helpful than hurtful.
Among all the scorpions and tarantulas on display, the unassuming Brown Recluse spider can be the most harmful with its venom. The good news is you tend to find them south of our area.
"Spiders Alive!" runs through January 12th. The attraction is included with admission to MPM's permanent exhibits and is free to members.
