Newest Milwaukee County K-9 deputies receive their badges

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office expands by two, and these newest deputies have keen noses.

K-9 Cairo and K-9 Ryker received their new sheriff's office badges Tuesday, July 13.

The sheriff's office says both K-9 deputies were born in Budapest, Hungary and are trained in narcotics detection, tracking, apprehension, handler protection and article searches.

K-9 Cairo was named after the K-9 attached to Seal Team 6, responsible for capturing Osama Bin Laden.

The sheriff says two deputies volunteered to train as new K-9 handlers and have worked with the dogs for three months.

The pair spent time bonding and working with the German Shepherds in North Carolina before taking them home to Wisconsin.
