New testing results of previously unsubmitted sexual assault kit leads to charges for assault in Beloit

BELOIT, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Criminal charges were filed against Jason Smith as a result of the Wisconsin Sexual Assault Kit Initiative.
The charges were filed against Smith for the sexual assault of a 13-year-old victim in 2000.
Smith was already servicing time for other sexual assault convictions.
The Wisconsin Sexual Assault Kit Initiative is a statewide effort to address the accumulation of previously unsubmitted sexual assault kits and reform the systems that caused the accumulation.
