New mural celebrates increased Hispanic population in Waukesha

MILWAUKEE -- A 15 by 80 foot mural unveiled Tuesday at La Casa De Esperanza is a reminder to the Waukesha community of the important role Latino's in the area have played in the area since the early 1900's.

The Mural is the culmination of La Casa's hard work to educate children in the community, and depicts Hispanics assimilating into the American way of life.

The mural was painted in panels by a select number of local students from 15 area high schools and is now located on the north wall of the community center at 410 Arcadian Avenue in Waukesha.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, over the past 6 years, the population in Wisconsin has grown by about 6%, compared to a 74% growth by Hispanics.
