MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – An empty lot near 24th and Center now has all the makings of a bountiful garden.
It’s the latest step in the opening of MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary. The longtime advocate who parted ways with Repairers of the Breach is focusing on creating a haven in Milwaukee’s Amani neighborhood and helping provide fresh food to those struggling to survive.
“There is so much of the scene here for people without vehicles or people underfed and undernourished,” says Sister MacCanon Brown. “We have big plans to become a major source of nutrition for this locale and the city.”
Sister Brown says they hope to eventually expand their gardens to include one inside and on the sanctuary’s roof. You can see more of her plans to renovate an old warehouse here.
