CUDAHY, Wis. (CBS 58) – A new community COVID-19 vaccine clinic is now open in the South Shore.

The new clinic is located in Cudahy at the old Kmart building on S. Packard Avenue.

On Tuesday, organizers expected to give around 300 vaccines. Those eligible must sign up for an appointment. The clinic was formed by leaders from Cudahy, South Milwaukee, St. Francis and Oak Creek.

It opened on Monday, Mar. 8.

"We need to get more shots in arms quicker, we have the capacity thanks to the team here, through all of the health departments, through all of the volunteers, now with this facility," South Milwaukee mayor Erik Brooks said. "So we're hopeful we'll have this place even fuller than it is today, because we need to get moving quicker."

Leaders hope to give around 1,000 vaccines per day once they get more doses.
