Paths to Healing — A Journey of Restoring Hope for Survivors
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A first in our area -- Narcan is now available free of charge, no questions asked, in both Greenfield and on Milwaukee's north side.
This is the Narcan vending machine in the lobby of the Greenfield Law Enforcement Center, accessible 24-7.
Greenfield had 103 opioid-suspected overdoses last year, the highest in some time.
Milwaukee's 53206 ZIP code has also been hit hard.
Samad's House offers sober living to women and installed a Naloxone box at Ashley's Bar-B-Que on Center Street.
"We wanted to do this before the holidays again, because everyone knows during the holiday season you have the highest number of people under stress and maybe partaking in drugs, and we want to save lives," said Tahira Malik, founder of Samad's House.
"Overdoses and the need for Narcan is 24-7, 365, and so we started looking at more innovative options to offer Narcan more widely," said Greenfield Public Health Specialist Lindsay Fuss.
Narcan is easy to administer, it's a nasal spray.
