Naked Bike Ride to take place in Milwaukee this weekend, June 24
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The city of Milwaukee will play host to the third annual World Naked Bike Ride on Saturday, June 24.
Organizers say the event symbolizes freedom and body positivity, but also seeks to educate people about the importance of bicycle transportation as a sustainable and viable mode of commuting.
John Jankowski, event organizer, says riders are coming in from all over the United States, including Florida, Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, Pennsylvania.
"Riders are flocking to our city, bringing with them a wave of support for local hotels and businesses. The influx of visitors has been a boom for the local economy, highlighting Milwaukee as a hub for cultural exchange and progressive ideas," a news release says in part on the event.
The festivities begin at noon at Kochanski’s Concertina Beer Hall, 1920 S 37th Street, with vendors offering products from art to eco-friendly businesses. Food and beverages will be available throughout the event as the day progresses to the main event at 4 p.m.
"The World Naked Bike Ride has truly become a magnet for people from all walks of life, uniting them under the common goals of promoting sustainability, body positivity, and safe cycling. Milwaukee embraces this extraordinary event and welcomes participants and visitors alike to experience the city's warm hospitality and unique charm," the release says.
