MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Aurora Health Care partnered with Summerfest to arrange a concert night and backstage meeting for a cancer patient battling stage 4 metastatic melanoma.

Jim Winnemuller from Saukville met The Killers at the festival after receiving the surprise opportunity on Friday, June 27. Aurora Health Care surprised him with tickets to the band’s performance at Summerfest.

Winnemuller, who was diagnosed in November 2024, said, "I’m feeling much better every day." He added, "The cancer is still there, being closely monitored by my cancer team. I’m especially grateful they make me feel like I am more than just a patient."

Aurora Health Care, an official Summerfest sponsor, will continue to arrange similar patient meet-and-greet events throughout Summerfest. The groups have already teamed up to connect fans with Def Leppard, James Taylor and Jason Mraz during this year's festival.
