MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Public Schools Board Vice President Jilly Gokalgandhi was the guest speaker at the Milwaukee Press Club Newsmaker Luncheon on Wednesday, July 24.
Gokalgandhi has become a key spokesperson for MPS as the district is currently suffering a financial scandal, which costs the district millions of dollars in state funding.
"Our communities understand that if we don't fund our schools, the domino effect of that ripples to all of us regardless or not of if we have children in the school system," said Gokalgandhi.
Despite a wave of new hires, the rebuilding process for MPS is ongoing, as the district is still looking to fill its comptroller position.
