3-alarm fire damages vacant Milwaukee warehouse
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A new development from Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) increases student's access to mental health services.
In partnership with Alverno College and the University of Wisconsin - Madison, MPS has been awarded a five-million-dollar grant from the Department of Education.
These funds will help expand the district's ability to provide support to students both inside and outside of the classroom.
"Schools are often the first place that students turn for help," said MPS Superintendent Brenda Cassellius. "This new funding allows MPS to develop the district's own school psychology professionals, providing them with first-hand experiences and professional training to support students' academic social and emotional well-being."
The National Association of School Psychologists has recently recognized MPS for excellence in school psychological services.
It is one of four districts across the country to receive the honor since 2020.
