MPS joins national lawsuit against e-cigarette companies

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Public Schools system has joined a nationwide lawsuit against e-cigarette companies JUUL Labs Inc. and Altria Group, Inc.

The suit claims that the companies deliberately targeted minors with advertising and product design.

On Wednesday, Nov. 4, the Wisconsin African American Tobacco Prevention Network and Wisconsin Tobacco Prevention and Poverty Network released a statement applauding MPS for joining the lawsuit.

The networks' director says they will "continue their efforts to raise awareness about the impact of menthol and other flavored products such as cigarillos on low-income communities of color in Milwaukee and across the state."
